when i see things like this, i like to imagine myself explaining why it’s cool to someone in the future “the default uploading format would only allow two gif panels side-by-side with a gutter between them, so that is what the audience is expecting to see. this piece looks like two gifs, but in reality it’s a single gif doctored to look like a tumblr post. the artist here is creating an illusion of the characters breaking out of the tumblr format- incredible!”
